Zumwalt responded to our garage door repair within an hour. Their technicians are very knowledgeable and this is a very reliable company. We have dealt with Zumwalt since 2010. They are simply the best in their field! A+

I would not recommend Zumwalt. I recently had them out for a service call. The technician was unprofessional as he talked about other clients. Later that day I called back to cancel my order after speaking with my fiancé. I asked if I could pay for the $75 service call while on the phone. I was told they would send me a invoice. I just received the invoiced and I was billed for an hour's work for the technician as well as the $75 service call ($191). I called to ask what the $116 was for since the technician was only at my place for like 10 minutes and hadn't done any work other than standing on a ladder and saying it is a broken chain and can't be fixed. I was advised that this fee was for the technician's time driving to my place. I was never told that I would have to pay driving time. No one communicated this additional $116 fee when I called and asked to pay for the service call. I feel like they are adding additional charges as punishment for cancelling the garage door opener with them which they wanted to charge me $771 for plus the $75 service fee. So when the technician left I was told I would have to pay the $850 upon his return to install. My fiancé that this was way too much for a garage door opener so I called and cancelled and asked to pay the $75 service call. Again no one communication that it would be different I just get an invoice for $191 in the mail. I feel like this is unethical as they are charging a fee that was never communicated to me. I spoke with people twice prior to the appointment as I called to set up the appointment and then later called and see if I could reschedule the appointment due to a change in my office schedule, the technician didn't mention it nor did the individual cancelling the order. There were four times to advised me of the policy to charge for drive time but all that was ever communicated to me was the $75 service fee. I feel like this is just really bad business and wanted to share my experience with you guys. I have never heard of paying for the driver to driver to the clients house before.

We bought our garage door from them and about a month ago barley hit it with the car. It was a little off track. The guy was here for five minutes, did not properly fix it and charged me 200 dollars. Yesterday I had to have another company fix what I already paid for. The guy at Zumwalt that handles complaints is outright rude and extremely condescending.

Terrible experience and terrible communication. We hired this company out on February 22 of this year. The tech came out and I had explained all the troubleshooting I had already completed, but he insisted on doing all of the same things I had already completed and came to the same result, the remotes are not opening the doors. He mentioned that he would need to have someone come back out. During that time I asked about just replacing the parts, and he said they are fairly cheap around $50 or $60 plus labor. I said then lets just replace them. We didn't hear back until May 18th, 3 1/2 months later when a tech just randomly showed up. Yes, there was confusion because no one was expecting anyone to service our garage doors. We requested a phone call first to confirm I would be here and showed up again the next day and I was out on an appointment. I wanted to be here to verify the same thing wasn't going to happen with troubleshooting all over again and explain how the doors currently operate since there are several ways to open the doors. I tried to get the tech back and weeks went by and no one was showing up and no calls to come out. I decided to cancel the service call due to how terrible this experience has been. Then I get an invoice for $682.50 which I was very surprised about since I still have a Garage door that doesn't function correctly and I was being charged for a tech that just stopped by twice unannounced. I was told he lived closed to our building so he just was stopping by. I have wasted quite bit of time having to go back and forth with several people at Zumwalt trying to get what I would expect as a simple job completed. I've requested a revised invoice for $210 and will to pay this invoice but this is no way a customer should be treated. I wanted to let others know what our experience has been. I even requested another talk with management and asked them to waive this invoice and if they will do the job based on the estimate you provided, I would give them another chance. This last email that I sent twice has gone unanswered so obviously they don't care about customer service.

Update: they came out and fixed it! The first time I called the office staff could not give me a time or date they would come fix my garage door. I had to keep calling to get a date and time, well that time passed and no one showed up, so I called again. Finally they get someone comes out-Randy. He was great, funny and fixed it quick! However now the door has a gap between the floor and the door and needs to be adjusted-no one saw this before he left. So I called the office the next day as soon as they opened and they said someone will come out in the next two business days. No one calls, so I call, they cannot guarantee anyone can come until next week, that doesn't work for my schedule. I told them what would work for me (which is the date and time they promised me last week) and now that doesn't work for them. So I am left to fix the problem myself! The only reason they get two stars is because Randy was funny!

Had them come out and reprogram my remote control. I understand the service charge of $75. Then they charge $116 for labor. It only took 5 minutes to program. On top of that they charged shop supplies $10. They wanted to charge $116 twice because I wasn't home when the tech called. Be sure you get an estimate before letting them work on your property.

Tried several companies to get my commercial opener repaired or replaced. Zumwalt was out to our shop quickly, and returned an estimate the next day. Scheduled replacement and their tech was on time and efficient. He was friendly and personable and did an A+ job. Would recommend them to other businesses.

Called this morning for a garage door opener problem that needs to be fixed. Picked them because of their response time. Was told we would hear from Cody or Randy. No one called. No one came. Will call another company tomorrow. Don't bother.

We have a three-bay garage, so we have three openers. The openers we had were original to the house, so they were about 25 years old (plus some spare parts along the way). We had a garage spring break on one of the doors, and they came out right away to fix it (next day). While the technician was at our house, I had him give me a quote for new openers. He took the time to explain the process to me, and the different options that were available. Then he called back to the office to get a quote. The came back out a few days later to install the openers. They were each 1/3 HP Chamberlain openers, belt driven (quiet!), and WiFi controlled. Very nice. After the technician (Don) was done with the install, he walked me through the basics of setting things up with the keypad and my iPhone. Total price to purchase and install the openers was $1230. There are plenty of garage door companies around here that get good reviews, but we only use Zumwalt. With three garage doors, it's good to have a company you know will do the job quickly and correctly. Also, the ladies at the office that schedule the appointments were very sweet. Services Rendered: Three new garage door openers, and a new spring.

Great service! This is the second time we called Zumwalt to fix our garage door in twelve years. They arrrived early in the morning and promptly fixed the problems for a decent fee. It's also great that they keep their business going in the city limits.

Terrible service and unknowledgable employees. They installed a OH door that is unable to get a permit due to a OSHA violation. Trying to get them to fix their mistake has been a 3 month ordeal that is still not fixed. They ignore emails and phone messages, they lied about shipping the needed part, then they sent the wrong part and they are charging us for their continued errors. No one their cares- they all blame each other and they can't seem to pull it together long enough to fix this problem correctly. This is a safety issue and you would think they would be quick to rectify it. We will never use them again.

Very helpful providing the information I needed to choose the correct garage door. Upfront and clear about the cost options. Good communication letting me know when the door was built and ready for installation. Installed immediately after the door was built and everything was taken care of. Great experience. Services Rendered: Replace garage door.

It was good. I had some issues but they came and repaired the issue. They were a little slow about it, but they did come and eventually replaced the door. When they finished the work, they let me know. They were in the community and I had called out for an estimate and I have referred him to someone before I used him and she said they did a good job. She had the same thing, a garage door so I used him for the garage door first and then I got the entry door. It was pretty good. They finished it at a timely manner. If something wasn't right, they came back and redid it. It just took them a while. It was a high price. It took them over a year to get my French storm door replaced. You have a lifetime warranty on stuff, and the door knobs are falling off and the storm door knobs are coming off. They were not punctual. The owner was professional, it was just the people that were supposed to install and repair things that were not professional. Services Rendered: Zumwalt installed a garage door, an entry door, and a storm door in 2009.

They came and put in a new garage door strip. They not only did the strip on the door that needed it, they went ahead and did the other side too! They also fixed the dent in my garage door. There was also a piece missing, and he came back and fixed it after the fact. They were just absolutely wonderful! My garage doors look great, and the people were so very nice. Services Rendered: I called them to put a new strip on my garage door.

Great. They were quick to make an appointment, arrived promptly, and quickly identified and resolved the issue. Services Rendered: My garage door opener had been sticking and occasionally failing to open or close completely. Zumwalt realigned and greased the rails, ultimately resolving the problem.

The old garage door on our 1 car garage had seen better days. It was either not installed correctly, or was cheap, as it started to tear and metal was poking through in deferent spots. The electric motor worked good still. We hired someone to fasten a metal reinforcement to the door, but eventually it caused the tension wires to break also. We decided to get a new garage door. A coworker recommended Zumwalt, and I was more than happy to use a company that had been, and still is, located in the city limits of Saint Louis, Missouri. The came out and quickly gave a quote on replacement, that we thought was a fair price. We signed the contract and within a week, the work was completed. The new door looked very nice and the trim work also looked exceptionally done. This company was very easy to work with, quick, and did a fantastic job, at a great price. If I still lived in the area, I would consider using Zumwalt again. Services Rendered: Remove existing garage door and haul away. Furnish and install new garage door and trim.

We didn't have any problems with them. They came right out. They were here the next day to give me a quote. They told me that it would take two weeks to order it and then they called me right back and installed it within three days. They were really good. My neighbors have used them too now. It was a good price. Services Rendered: We used Zumwalt on Friday for a total replacement of a garage door.

I have used their services for many years. We have had the same guy come out repeatedly over the years. He knows our house as well as the garage door. They are consistent on time and are really good as well. Their price is very good too. Services Rendered: I used the services of Zumwalt for having my garage door repaired and got it set up till I can get a new door. So I am in the process of having the garage door installed by them.
