A complete lack of professionalism and customer service.
I made five calls over two weeks to have a garage door opener replaced that has similar capabilities to my current one but also one that has a battery backup.
The first call I spoke with a technician, they took all of my info down, asked for an email with pictures of the current setup, and said they would get back to me. They didn't.
I called back a week later and reached the same technician. They once again asked for all of my info because I "wasn't in the system". They now inform me that I need to provide the model number before they can even give me an estimate. Ok, that's fair but it would've been nice if they responded to my email or called me back.
I call back later that day with the model number. I can't reach a technician as none were in the building but I was told they would call back by end of day. They didn't.
I call back the next day and reach a second technician. After giving him the model number, he tells me that they don't have any garage door openers that can do what my existing unit can, has a battery backup, and runs on AC power. However, he suggests that I could simply purchase an uninterruptible power supply rated for server use and they could install that (and he even offered to go purchase one from Office Depot). Excellent, we have a solution. I told him I'd order one and call back when it arrived as I would like them to install it.
A few days later, the UPS arrives and I call back the fifth and final time. I reach an older gentleman that was a manager (not sure) . I explain the situation and he is completely confused. He asks for all of my info (for the third time) because "I'm not in the system". I explain everything again: the lack of a suitable replacement unit, the suggested alternative (by his employee), and my willingness to still pay money for his team to install it.
He was angry. He had never heard of any technician installing an UPS and he has "been running this place for over 40 years and had never heard of an UPS". He raised his voice, he was angry, he was sarcastic - "it was a good thing you talked to someone smarter than me about this", then back to angry "what do you want us to do about it?". He told me that he was going to have a talking to his employees and figure out which one told me this and that I would get a call back before end of day. I asked, "who will be calling me back?". He responded (angrily), "the employee you spoke to or me". No one called back.
TLDR: I had to call them 5 times because they never called back. One technician suggested a clever alternative, which I pursued, and the "manager" got angry at me for wanting him to follow through. I'm just going to invest in getting the tools to install it myself instead of giving them money.
