Google5I can't say enough about the team at Steel and Loeber. The installation went quickly, and both of our garage doors operate smoothly. With out a doubt, I would hire this company again.

Google5My parents had used this company over 40 years ago and their garage is still in great condition so I decided to go with them. They took care of everything from demolishing my old garage to pouring me a new driveway. The garage is exactly how my salesman Ross and I planned. Do NOT hesitate choosing Steele and Loeber.

Google5I can confidently and wholeheartedly say that they make the best garages in all of Illinois. Communication was amazing and they answered all of my questions. I have already recommended them to my family and friends. Thank you Steele and Loeber!

Google1Steele and Loeber built us a nice garage but it was the worst experience with any company since we've been in our house. We've had major plumbing work done, major roof work, a fence built, and by far Steele and Loeber was the worst experience we've had. Murray, the salesman, fancifully described "skilled European craftsman" during our sales process. They were skilled and the garage is nice but the crew was led by a gruff, curt, and unresponsive man. Murray promised a garage built in a few days. He described how the garage would go up and nothing would stop these craftsmen until our product was done. The process we experienced was not that. The crew came and went across a few days. They started, skipped a day, didn't answer calls in between, and then showed up half way through another day to finish. Steele and Loeber couldn't even tell when they were coming when I called. We would've been fine with the product if it did not become clear over time that Murray is a liar that will tell you what you need to hear to sell you a garage. Then, it took them five days to send someone to clean the garbage left by the building crew. I imagine this is typical but it once again did not happen how the salesman described. Lastly, we wanted gutters on our garage. We called Steele and Loeber to check when they would be installed. The guy in charge of building was very unprofessional when we reached out. It took Steele and Loeber more than a week to reach out and they handled the situation poorly. One of the guys called me Patricia twice (either bad business or rude.) At the end, they offered to cover a portion of our gutters for a five star review, which we declined. Steele and Loeber saved us about $1,000 but I was warned by other companies that there were things beyond money that I should consider. I didn't understand then but I would gladly pay more to not have this experience. They tried to blame issues on "supply chain" and "covid" but pretty much all of our issues were related to poor communication on their end as well as poor follow up. If saving money is the most important thing in your life, they may be the choice for you. But, I cannot express enough how much regret I have investing money with this company.

Google1I signed my 24 X 24 garage contract with Steele and Loeber on March 29, 2022 and terminated it June 7, 2022, before the gutter and electric installation. I refuse to let Steele and Lober access to my property to cause even more damage, and will not reward poor behavior any longer. I have emails dated 6/8, 6/9, with the owner Phil, which verify my statements. I submitted many photos to Steele & Loeber prior to posting any reviews. Here are the primary reasons for terminating the contract: The concrete connecting my driveway to my patio does not match the Survey drawing submitted for build approval. The survey drawing shows a square shape, The driveway now has an L shape. This was a result of measurement error which should not have happened. This change was never approved in writing by myself and Steele and Loeber, thus they have likely violated the terms of their own contract. My concrete payment was made after the pour was finished and before the all forms were removed. Concrete Forms are usually removed in 24-48 hours, and after about 7 days for complex builds. My driveway forms were not removed in this time frame. The removal of the concrete forms should have been automatic, requiring no action from me. Note; I was also not given written instructions on fresh concrete watering/care. The lack of which, might cause concrete cracks (I already have a crack by my service door). I requested the driveway forms be removed before the garage build, so my Landscaper could drop topsoil off the back end of the garage foundation. This would make his job easier and reduce my cost. Removal didn't happen. The morning of the topsoil delivery, weeks after the concrete pour, I pulled the concrete forms myself (I'm 60+ and have arthritis). Then, the poor performance continued. A defective "Atlas dead bolt lock was installed on my Garage Service Door. I was not given any information on the manufacturers' warranty for the siding and roofing which were fully paid for. Uncovered Build trash sat on my new driveway for almost 3 full days, getting rained soaked, and blowing into both my yard and my neighbors. Both my 60+ arthritic wife and I had to sweep up, organize the pile, then cover it with the discarded roofing sheet film. The issue is not the days, or mis-comunication, but the fact they couldn't take 10 minutes to cover it. Finally, Steele and Lober didn't do anything (mats/temporary steel plates) to reduce excessive damage to to my formally beautiful, long, two year old asphalt driveway. I now have numerous Cement blobs, streaks and deep gouges , along with 50+ Fluid stains (which will require solvents to remove), from 10+ vehicles, in multiple crews. A matter of true distress for me is, the Steele and Lober contract relieves them of responsibility for driveway damage, and the customer needs to pay extra for driveway cleanup. Horrible!

Google2DO NOT DO BUSSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY I hired this company to build a larger than normal garage in Aug, 2020 and from the very beginning it knew it was a bad choice. It took them more than a month to begin the process...meaning just laying the concrete and then another month to start building. The whole job was suppose to take a month according to the owner Phil. I had to constantly call them because they don't have the skill of communicating with the customer. I would wake up and people would on my property working. My garage was finally finished in Nov, 2020. A week later I had to call them because the windows won't stay up, my roof is leaking from various places as well as under beneath my service door and my shingles are flapping on one side of the garage. I have called them so many times and received the same excuse that they are behind and they will get to me. So it Feb, 2021 and I still have the same problems. This company is very unprofessional and feel like they can take your money and treat you how ever they please. They are unconcerned and inconsiderate. But I will get results. If you had problems with them my best advice would be to file a claim with the attorney general office which I will do asap. I have upload a photo so the owner phil won't say that I wasn't a customer which he is known to do. Also they like to run out your 1 year warrantee so they don't have to honor it so file your claim quit. I am absolutely disgusted with this company.

Google5Steele and Loeber did my garage and the experience was fantastic. They worked with me to find the perfect door, and showed up to do the work exactly when promised. They use better quality materials and construction techniques than the other companies I considered, and they stand behind their work. Just as important, they explain everything before starting the work, and as opposed to promising things that are not true (or that they think you want to hear in order to get the sale), they tell it like it is. We could not be happier with Steele and Loeber!

Google5Very happy with our new garage built by Steele and Loeber. They did excellent work and at a very good price. Our old garage was 4 car, abt 100 years old, and located on a dead end alley within a tight space. We decided to tear it out due to constant flooding and build a smaller garage with a high concrete base/ retaining wall. Tear down went incredibly smoothly; they surprised me by how well they cleaned up, too. Concrete team was fast and efficient and friendly, and built a solid base above the flood-prone area. Really appreciated the extra effort to hand cart the concrete into our narrow alley (regular cement truck would not fit). S&L was not the lowest bid we had, but what sold me was that they promised complete customer satisfaction and no hidden costs. Everything up front, and in writing. I am very pleased with the results and would highly recommend this company. (special thanks to sales rep Murray Levin, who is a gem).
