Yelp1A1 tech, Joel Kaufman, came out to quote a garage door repair. This was not the first quote attempted for this same repair. Joel went on to talk about how the damage to the door was so significant that is was unsafe. This was odd since A1 told us a panel is all that would need replaced. Joel said "If it were my mom", which I'm sure he uses all the time, he would replace the whole door. He said he would use a better door from one of the brands they sold. He also said this panel would not be able to be found to replace anyway. He was not going to give a quote because it would take a couple hours. I'm not sure why he came out if not quoting anyway. It seems more likely Joel is a liar because he cannot get this panel with this company and he is just trying to get us to spend money so he can make a buck. Why wouldn't he quote a door even when asked based off his suggestion? So much for a family owned company wanting to treat people like family. I have been quoted a panel from a company that can get this door.

Yelp1A friend referred this company to me after using it about two years ago, got a spring replaced for $200-300. After a $75 "discount", the 2 year spring alone was $500. We went ahead and agreed because it's 100 degrees outside and parking is awful. About 30 minutes in the man tells us that a few parts needed replacing for an additional $600. This is 1000% markup on the cables and bearings alone. We called the company and they told us we were paying for their "reputation". Certainly not a reputation I'd want for my business. Stay far away.

Yelp1If I could give them 0 stars, I would. The shorter story, lol, is that after being without power for a week from the crazy tornado like storm we had here, we decided to stay at my sister's in Broken Arrow. While there, my 5 year old placed his toy guitar in the frame of the garage door and when we closed it, not noticing the guitar, it didn't crush the toy nor did the door stop like it's supposed to, it kept trying to come down, essentially bending the door like a tin can and uncoiling the wire within. I called A1 because of the high reviews. The tech was extremely friendly but told me I would need both springs replaced. Mind you, the motor is and has been working fine opening and closing at this point, it's just the door and inner workings. He's out there for about 20 minutes and has us come out. I have heard him open and close the garage several times while he was there. He told me that he thinks the motor was burnt out as it will no longer come on and that it would need replaced. He then preceded to charge me $511 for 2 springs and a broken motor. When he left, we closed and opened the garage by hand - it springs open and is hard to shut. We were told by another company that the springs were put in backwards as it should close easily and be harder to open. I have reached out to A1 both by email and phone and I've even messaged the owner on Facebook to no avail! Stay away if possible. I don't usually say that but man, I don't have $500 to just spend on something that's not even fixed completely. Good luck and stay safe. God bless.

Yelp1They tried to sell me springs for $2800. When I questioned it the dropped it to $1200 - I told them to leave. Do not use this company.

Yelp1A1 GARAGE DOOR TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE ELDERLY!!! These guys came out to a 67 year old stroke survivors home, charged 2 1/2 times the price of a garage door opener, charged labor twice, sold their "worry free guarantee", & damaged the exterior of the garage door itself. Took absolutely no accountability!! They did show up and do the work - that is worth noting. When we reached out to the Corporate Office in Arizona it was nothing but transferred calls, messages left, empty promises, & lies. A1 Garage Door took advantage of an elderly woman who lives alone and has brain trauma - disgusting business practice! Just wanted to share a little insight on how this business treats people in your community.

Yelp1Look somewhere else for garage door repairs! Tech was a nice guy and he did show at the appointed time. What bothered me was that I was immediately informed that he had listened to my scheduling call and that she was in error quoting me the rates she provided. (Tech's listen to each scheduling call??) He corrected her quote and stated site visit was $40 and "repair was a flat $165", meaning $205 to repair. I had a broken garage door and he was here, so I consented to the increase. He soon pointed out the cables needed to be replaced. (What I don't recall was approving the price of the cables in advance...) When the job was done, I was asked to sign several iPad forms acknowledging the work. I signed them each to get him paid and gone. The cost of the cables ($155!) seemed incredibly high, but I don't know the price of 7' cables off the top of my head. He stated, "I don't control the prices, just get the work done". I later looked on the internet and found I could by 7' cables form numerous sources and never more that $20 a set. After all was said and done, this entire exchange felt dirty and like a set-up bait and switch. I contacted the office and was told someone would get back to me within 24 hours. I expressed no credit or discount to me will prevent them from doing this again, so here's my review! Run from A1 Garage Door Service! I paid my bill, but guarantee I've learned!

Yelp1I scheduled a service appointment because the spring on our garage door broke. The appointment was from 11-4 so I stayed home and waited and didn't hear anything until I messaged at 3 to ask if they were still coming. They told me the technician would be there at 5. I work from home at 4:30, but I figured I could show him the problem and he would replace the spring. He said he would go ahead and do that, but then kept coming in to interrupt me working with students to show me things. I assumed they were parts of the spring because I don't know what's involved and he never asked if I wanted extra parts replaced, he just showed me a couple of things he replaced. I was distracted trying to work and assumed he was just replacing the spring. When he was finished, he told me I could sign up for the yearly inspection program to save money on the service call and I could cancel tomorrow without any charges (and winked at me and told me not to tell anyone). He then handed me a bill for over $1200 with several parts replaced and an $800 spring. I feel super taken advantage of because he knew I was distracted and a woman and assumed I didn't know how much things cost, or what he was doing until it was too late and he had done it. My husband and I have left several messages with customer service with no response. We will tell everyone to never do business with this company because of our horrible experience.

Yelp1The garage door on our rent house was a standard door but the opening was like 2 inches off. A1 quoted us custom door replacement options only at over twice the cost and nearly three month delivery time and said it was the only option because there was a door shortage. Later, Another company said they could have replaced the door with another standard door in three days. When pressed, A1 said yes the old door was a standard door but they thought we needed a custom one. We feel they were less than honest and did not give us all the options. We spent over $3,000 for a garage door on our rent house.

Yelp4Recently had our garage door repaired by A1. Customer service was great from start to finish. Seth and Ephraim were both very helpful and efficient. Only reason for 4 stars is the initial assessment price. Service is 5 stars, no question.

Yelp1Please shop around and check prices. They were just over $1900 for an 8 x 7' door with no opener. I got the same door for just over $1200 and had another bid for just over $1300. Definitely pays to shop around.
