When I called to make the appointment, I said that I thought I needed a new opener. I would have had no way of knowing that it could be fixed in an hour, and if he had told me I needed a replacement, I would have believed him. So he passed up an opportunity to make a lot more money, but was honest and professional. He was almost three hours late. He got stuck in a traffic jam on the Pennsylvania turnpike, but didn't have my number with him to call me, nor was he able to reach anyone at his office to call. It was only when I called because he was, already, half an hour late, that I found out about the problem.Nevertheless, he was so professional and so careful that I would happily use him agtain. Services Rendered: The garage door would not stay closed; it kept popping up every time I pressed the button on the remote, and often when I pressed the button at the entry to the house. Not only did he fix the problem (he had to reprogram the opener), but he inspected the door and found a couple of other issues that might have been contiributing factors, and fixed them as well.

Mike Franklin came out and fixed our garage in about 15 minutes. He was able to tell us exactly what happened and tested everything thoroughly so that it wouldn't happen again. He was completely professional and didn't try to sell us a new garage door or anything. I will definitely call Mike the next time I need any kind of garage service. One of the best experiences I have ever had with a service technician. Services Rendered: Fixed a derailed garage door.

Everything went great, from the first phone call (answered by Mike's very pleasant wife, Gwen) to the return visit to finish the work. Gwen always called ahead to let me know when Mike was coming, and he was always on time. He spent a fair bit of time evaluating our rather unorthodox doors, but he seemed to enjoy the challenge presented. He needed to order new remote openers, so returned another day to program those and grease up the doors. This was not a complicated case, but I feel much better about using the doors after Mike has looked them over. He spent a lot of time explaining to me problems that might crop up in the future, and options for dealing with the doors during a power failure. Should they develop a problem in the future, I will definitely call Mike Franklin again. Services Rendered: We have purchased a new home, and the large garage doors did not appear to have been used in some time. I wanted someone to go over them, make sure they were in good working order.

If you want true value for money spent, you need to give Franklin Garage Door Service a chance to bid on your job. The owner, Mike Franklin, believes in doing the best job possible, matching the materials to the job or the customer’s request and he stands behind his work. 25 years of service in the area have him tackling the quirks and twists of putting a new garage door in an old garage. I called Mike to give ma an estimate on replacing my garage door that had failed after many, many years of service. The local chain store had sent a contractor out and after throwing his tape measure around for several minutes, the gentleman informed me that I would need a custom size door for the job, even though the existing door was a standard 8’ by 7’ door. It would be a month or more to get the door in. He never quite explained to me exactly why it would need to be a smaller door would open lower than the current door. So I searched Angie’s List and found a couple of other people to call for additional estimates on the job. Mike arrived on time and took a look at what I had. He asked questions, made some suggestions on how this could be done and recommended a different garage door opener than the chain had sold me. He told me that the ‘other guy” had only measured the opening for the garage without looking at the existing installation. The’ other guy’ was doing the ordering using standard measuring techniques, thus the door would end up being custom in size. But Mike was able to think outside the box and come up with a solution that would use a standard door and open to the same height as the current door. When Mike said that he could do the job by the end of the week instead of a month from now, I was jumping for joy. Plus, plus, plus, it was around half the cost of the chain store for their standard door installation. Can you say “Happy Camper”? Mike arrived on the arranged day with all of the needed supplies to do the job. He worked quickly and efficiently to remove the old door, replace some rotting wood in the door frame, install the new rails and assemble the new door. He had to do some tweaking, but the standard sized 8’ by 7’ door opens and closes at the same height as the old door. He installed a lovely garage door opener (something I have not had before) and then removed all of the old door panels and rails, cleaned up and left everything cleaner than before he arrived. Mike was professional from the word go, yet friendly, pleasant and smiling the entire time, even when the 120 degrees in the rafters of the garage had him sweating profusely. While not wanting anything to happen to my new door, I would happily go to Mike again for any repairs or replacements I might need in the future. You can call Franklin Garage Door Service with confidence. Services Rendered: I needed to replace a garage door on an existing garage. The old wooden door (8' by 7') had become rotten from the weather and the cables had pulled out. I could no longer open the door and needed to get the door repaired so I could use the garage. The old door had to be removed, a new door installed and a garage door opener installed for ease of opening and security.

I found Franklin Garage Door on Angie’s list. My double door was very old, dented, rusting, etc. I expected to replace everything including the opener. Mike came out to provide an estimate. He was very professional and thorough. He pressed on the top of the door frame and noted there appeared to be some wood rot - very crunchy. Within the last year I had the house resided and this was capped. He said he was surprised they didn't see it and suggest repair - but that he could take care of it. Although the automatic opener was very old - it still worked well so he suggested keeping it. He said it's a small job to replace – so save some money and use it until it doesn't work anymore. The new door would be much lighter – so even if the opener stopped working, it would be easy enough to open manually until he could come out to replace (saving me some money – I liked that!) Installed a beautiful new insulated door (noticed a real difference in the garage temperature) and the door is very quiet and smooth going up and down. He replaced the door frame with the new synthetic lumber pre-painted in white instead of aluminum capped wood. It looks fabulous – much better than capping. Mike was very professional, neat – the garage was clean when he was finished – and did a great job at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend Franklin Garage Door. Services Rendered: Replacement garage door including tracks, etc. Everything but the automatic opener. Additionally, replaced the framing around the door opening.

Mike and his helper Craig put in a long day and did beautiful. They found problems probably dating from when the original doors were installed and they fixed them. Mike and Craig were very personable and professional. Mike's wife Gwen was wonderful on the phone and was very helpful with coordinating everything. I highly recommend this company. Services Rendered: Mike replaced my garage doors and openers. I belive that they were all original to the house and were in terrible shape. He had fixed one of the openers previously and as a result, I was able to squeeze out a couple more years of life.
