This company is unethical. They have used my TX home address and claimed this as their business address. It shows on Google maps and I get mail for Tako Garage Door / Omer Cohen every week from everyone from the TX Comptroller to banks, etc. Every attempt I have made to communicate with them has been ignored. Your home could be the next Tako Garage door company. Don't do business with this company. They appear to do nothing themselves and sub work to others 100% of the time.

I contacted a different company, but this installer showed up instead. Extremely sloppy installation: Left nuts, bolts, screws, and trash around the garage and driveway. Wiring looked like it was done by a child. Left no manual or product info. It took me several weeks and multiple calls to receive an invoice.

Just like Tiny R's review, I called Meilkeson Garage Door Service (who have very good reviews), and a guy named "Roy" from Tako showed up. Since this was a same day response, I assumed Meilkeson has a subcontractor doing short notice calls in the Tacoma area. Original appointment window was 2pm-4pm, but around 2, got a call and advised it would be between 4-6 pm. Appreciated the notice, and Roy arrived shortly after 4. I wanted a repair of our 5 year old Genie garage door opener, that stopped working this morning. I tried to diagnose the problem, but aside from a slight smell of fried electronics, I couldn't figure out the cause of the malfunction. Even though I had specified on the phone that our opener was a Genie brand, Roy informed me that they don't repair Genie openers, as they are substandard quality. Roy then explained that the problem was the torsion springs being too weak to open the door. Since the springs were replaced when we replaced the Genie opener, I didn't buy that. But after futzing around with the Genie opener, Roy suggested that the only option he could offer was to replace it with a new LiftMaster brand opener. After discussing with my wife, I gave Roy the go-ahead to install a new belt-drive opener. Total cost, including tax and labor=$1,320. Roy was able to install the new opener in just over 60 minutes...but then I discovered a few disappointing things: 1. I asked for the owners manual. Roy looked surprised, and had to dig it out of his box of trash. I wrote the serial number from the carton it came in before Roy trashed that too. 2. There was only one remote control door opener. When I queried Roy, he said he could sell me a second one, for $200. Yep, a small plastic gadget for a double hundo! I called BS, and after a phone call to "his boss", Roy offered it for $100. Still exorbitant, so I decided to go online later and get one for probably less than $50. But...after Roy left, I read the owner's manual, and learned that the opener can be operated by a smartphone app. A professional installer would have known that, but Strike 2 for Roy and Tako. 3. During the installation, and after Roy departed, I moved our two cars back into the garage, and then spent about 15 minutes getting the app set up. During that time, I had the main overhead garage lights on. After finishing up, I closed the garage door, and flipped off the switch for the lights...and noticed that the opener light didn't come on. I redialed Roy, and explained the issue, and he said he'd be right back. 15 minutes later, Roy pulled up, and I explained the opener light hadn't come on. Roy said, "Oh, you need to put a light bulb in it." Guess I expected that would be part of the install service, as was the case both times when previous garage door companies installed new openers (plus providing TWO remotes...) I asked Roy to retrieve the light bulb from our old opener, which he did, but then Roy said, "Oh, you can't use an LED light bulb, because it interferes with the WiFi." Considering that old incandescent light bulb will soon be unavailable, that news was 2% awesome. (Fortunately we still had a box of 40 watt incandescent bulbs, left over from a old nightstand lamp.) So that was Strike 3 for Roy. 4. The last pain in the behind came from setting up the app on our iPhones. Mine worked okay, but when I tried to get my wife's phone set up, it failed to recognize her as a co-owner of the system. I'm waiting for the login to reset for her phone, so what should have taken 5 minutes has become a Gilligan's Island 3-Hour Tour! Bottom Line: If you call Meilkeson, don't use the number at the top of their webpage. Instead, either contact them via email, or at the number listed at the bottom of their webpage. And if Tako shows up instead of Meilkeson, I suggest you say, "Thanks, but no thanks!"

One of our doors wasn't on the track and now it's on the track but completely bent :( I wouldn't recommend these folks at all. I had to ask that the garage door handle be REATTACHED as he left it on the floor and was ready to leave. Not good!

They did show up on short notice to fix the opener on a very large heavy old garage door. It ended up costing almost $1,000 more than the original "high end" of what the tech quoted us. We found out afterward that the sensor wiring was reversed, I called & left a message and the guy called right back. He said he would get someone out asap and would call back to confirm when that would be. He must have thought we were new business when he called back the first time because after that, no one showed and he wouldn't accept or return our calls.

I do not recommend Tako Garage Door. I called Melikson garage service and Tako came instead. I had installed my garage door opener and wanted to have better supports for the opener. I also wanted to make sure the door could open as I had struggled to make the garage door opener work properly. Then a guy showed up to give me an estimate. He looked at my installation and said: No need to redo the supports. The installation was fine. I told him that the unit moved when it operated and he said that it was okay that the unit is supposed to move. He said the supports I installed were fine. I was uneasy but he dismiss me said it was fine. I don't think he wanted to do the work. Next he asked me to push the button to open the door. The door hummed and did not move. He looked at my installation and said that to repair the opener it would cost $225 dollars. I told him that the price was too high and we settled on $200. I thought he had seen something wrong with it to quote me that high of a price. He then took my ladder and adjusted the chain. Then asked me to open the door. And suddenly the chain snapped and came loose. He picked it up and re-installed it and adjust it. And asked me to open the door and it did. He adjusted the rise and low on the unit. The process too about 15 to 20 minutes. Then I payed with my credit card and he said that there would be $200 plus tax. I did not think that labor was taxed but he charged me $220 for the work but when I saw the bill it said $220 total and on the tax it said 0 dollars. This is a scam to me. Not only did I not get Meilkeson to do the repair but sending Tako to do the job for which they charged twice as much for a simple repair. I had done all the work which included installing my own garage door and door opener with controls. The only thing he did was adjust the chain and reinstall it after he made it snap. I do not recommend these guys at all. I don't even give them one star. And if something happens with my door again I will go to another repair company for the work. I was taken advantage of and I am still upset about it.

Not recommended. Garage would not shut completely. Called and asked them to come out and help. It was determined my spring was broken. They replaced spring for 700.00. five minutes after they left the door would not shut. Called again, they came back and could not fix. They said it was now a broken opener that I needed to replace. They spilt grease in my garage in the process. He poured some dish soap on top and then some water and left it without cleaning it up as well as leaving all the old parts for me to clean up. Garage is still broken. Had to call another repair company to fix properly. I originally called Melikson garage service for this repair and Tako is who came to repair. Not sure how that works or why. The repair tech was very nice but feel this is some kind of scam. Lesson learned. Verify it's an employee of the company and not some third party subcontractor.

Not good repairman at all. He was charging me $175 to reprogram the open and close levels. After completed I tested it and it worked fine the first time. Then did it again and there was a gap at the bottom of the door. He readjusted and then there was a gap on the right side. He adjusted the right side to reach the floor, then there was a gap on the left side. He adjusted the left side and still a gap. He told me that there was a problem with the motor and said "I don't know what to tell you". After that I just wanted him to leave so he charged me $50. With all the things he removed and adjusted, I'm not sure the door will ever work as intended. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable professional.

Asked her garage door repair two months ago, once here, I was told I ruined my door and I needed a new garage door opener. I had them install it and less than two months later, it was not working. I was charged over $400 to have their faulty installation fixed and "needed maintenance" done. I am older and poor working two jobs. Where is ethical practice? Not with the.

    1. Said they would be out at 10 a.m. They arrived over an hour late. No call, no apology. 2. Immediately told me the base price would be $325. The garage door is 3 months old. But I agree to it, as well as to the $80 additional to install the external keypad which had not been done by the original installer. 3. I had two external keypads and he chose the one that went with the unit. Then he said they were both broken and he wanted me to buy one from him. I asked him if it just needed a battery, so I changed it and it worked fine. It was also brand new. 4. When he handed me the bill he had added $120. When I asked him what that was for, he said, "Labor". I told him that he told me the base fee would be $325 and never mentioned an additional labor charge. So, he wanted over $500 for a small adjustment to the door and installing the keypad and spent 30-40 minutes here? When I balked at paying it, he said he'd remove the labor fee, as he agreed he hadn't mentioned it. 5. The guy was polite, but honestly, it was like he was trying to nickel and dime me for what was already a pricey fee. I am always weary of providers who do that and would caution anyone who uses them to be sure to clarify every fee up front. 6. The door is working better, for now, but before he left, he said that I needed yet another $150 of "maintenance" done on it. I told him I'd let him know if I want to pursue that.

Won't return calls or texts. Still waiting for your answer why your springs are so much shorter than the originals. When I see people on here wondering why their doors are failing I'm sure mine will come undone as well. All you had to do is answer a text or call especially since I paid you $1200 for 30 minutes work. Just say no people

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have reached out to the technician who scammed me to speak with him, and find out if they are willing to make their LACK of service and general unethical practices right. Avoid at all costs.

This company is hard to contact after they get your money. They replace my garage two months ago then after almost two months my garage is noisy and won't close occasionally. I tried to contact them several times but won't do something about it. They will say they will send someone but will not hear anything from them. Looks like they only get the contract then hire cheap private installer to do the job. I'm still waiting for them to fix my garage but it's been almost a month and no technician is coming to see my garage. Don't hire this company if you don't want stress. They will leave you hanging after they get your money.

We had our garage door repaired over two months ago, and even though it's under warranty, it keeps breaking over and over. They have been out at least 4 or 5 times to keep fixing it. It will work for about 2-3 weeks and then break again. Today the garage door has completely fallen apart. We had contacted them to come out and repair it, and they want to charge us labor for it. Um no. Not our fault the repair isn't working. I want a complete refund. Completely unacceptable.
