Can a bent garage door be fixed?

Yes, in most cases a bent garage door can be repaired without replacing the whole door. Small dents in the middle of a steel panel can often be tapped out from the inside using a rubber mallet and a wood block as a buffer. A bent top panel is usually corrected by installing a horizontal reinforcement strut across the inside, which pulls the metal back toward straight and adds rigidity. If a single panel is severely warped, creased, or split, that one section can be swapped out rather than replacing the whole door. Once damage affects the tracks, rollers, hinges, or the door no longer balances and tracks straight, you should stop using it and call a pro.
