Can you straighten a bent garage door?

You can straighten a bent garage door panel in many cases, but only if the damage is limited to dents or minor warping. For small to medium dents, place a wood block over the dented area on the inside of the panel and tap it from inside out with a rubber mallet, working slowly to avoid splitting the steel. For panels that have buckled at the top, install a horizontal reinforcement strut across the inside, which pulls the panel back toward flat and adds rigidity. If the panel is creased deeply, the seams have separated, the door no longer tracks straight, or rollers and hinges are bent, full panel replacement is faster, safer, and produces a much better finished result.
