How to fix orange light on garage door sensor?

An orange (or amber) light on a garage door sensor is normal on the sending unit, which most LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman openers use. The receiving sensor on the other side should glow solid green. If the orange light is on but your door will not close, the issue is almost always with the green receiver, not the amber transmitter. Loosen the wing nut on the green sensor, gently rotate it until the LED stops blinking and stays solid, then retighten. Also wipe both lenses with a dry cloth, clear any cobwebs or boxes blocking the beam, check for kinked or stapled wires, and shade the receiver if direct sunlight is hitting it during certain hours.
