Is one of my garage sensors supposed to be orange?

Yes, on most LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman garage door openers, one safety sensor is supposed to be orange or amber and the other is supposed to be green. The orange sensor is the sender, which constantly transmits an invisible infrared beam across the bottom of the door opening. The green sensor is the receiver on the other side, which lights up when it detects that beam. If both sensors are lit, both colors are correct, and the door still will not close, the issue is usually alignment or a brief obstruction in the path. Genie openers are the exception, since they use red and green instead of amber and green. Sensors with both LEDs the same color are not standard.
