What color should the lights be on my garage door sensors?

The correct sensor light colors depend on the brand of opener. On LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman openers, one sensor glows amber or orange (the sender) and the other glows solid green (the receiver). Both should be steady when the system is working. Genie Safe-T-Beam sensors use red on the sender and green on the receiver. Linear and some older systems use solid green on both sides. As long as both lights are on and steady in the pattern your manufacturer specifies, the safety system is aligned. Blinking, dim, or off lights point to a problem: alignment, dirt on the lens, sun glare, blocked beam, loose wiring, or a failed sensor. Always check your manual for the brand-specific color pattern.
