Yelp55 years later: our springs broke again. We called the same number but I think their name changed to Illinois Garage Door Repair (per the receipt). A technician was able to come within a couple hours. The tech had the springs we needed in stock and ready, and he repaired them quickly. Prices were higher than 5 years ago ($200 more), but that was expected.

Yelp5Great service, I contact them thru yelp they responded right away. And actually came out same day. I had broken spring on my garage door, they recommended I'll replace both. They did it on the spot and finished in under an hour. Price was very fair and the technician was very friendly and explain everything. Would use again if need any garage doors repair. Highly recommended.

Yelp5Alec was extremely efficient and polite. He contacted us and was able to come earlier than scheduled. He quickly analyzed the problem and fixed our door! I will definitely contact Chicago Meteo Garage Doors with any future issues.

Yelp5Technicians name was Martin. He was courteous and attentive. Extremely polite on the phone to confirm the appointment. Installed a new garage door opener and all hardware in about an hour. He even cleaned up after himself and left the garage swept and spotless.

Yelp2I clearly explained that I needed to replace a broken cable and was quoted by the inline rep $165-$225- which was in the same range as others. The guys arrived and said they couldn't just replace the cable and I would need to buy an entire new system for $650. Ummm... no. Felt a bit like bait and switch. I went with another company who replaced the cable for $140.

Yelp5Our garage door broke over the weekend and we called Joe (the owner). We had an appointment for Monday morning and Andy arrived as stated. He explained to me what went wrong with the garage, I approved, and he got to work immediately. Garage works like a charm. We had a bit of a mishap with the total cost, but I called Joe, who corrected the mistake immediately. Would call again with no hesitation.

Yelp5We recently hired them to replace a pair of broken springs, rusty cables and bottom rollers for our HOA building. They responded quickly and offered competitive price for both parts and labor. There was a small dispute with the repair guy, who turned out to be from their partner shop, which turned out to be a misunderstanding between them, and was corrected after a phone call. They offered two year warranty on the spring and five years on the cable.

Yelp5Responded within minutes to schedule, and completely converted our garage door spring system along with reinforcing the door in one visit. Super professional, super fast, and super great at what they do. Recommended!

Yelp5It was great to have a chance to work with this company. They were very pleasant to speak to someone on my initial call. I am sure glad someone was able to come out on the same day since I had an issue with the garage door falling off the track and not closing properly. The hinge on the garage door was mounted incorrectly causing the door to fall off the track. It was good that I called back after 1 1/2 hours after my first call since the call dispatcher didn't return my call quickly enough to provide a more accurate service time arrival. I could have been waiting 3 hours later before someone called back. The service tech was able to give me a good estimate on time arrival when I called back the second time. I told the service technician to text me after leaving their last site and the person did honor this - this is good. After mentioning a few things on how the door was not aligned properly to the service tech, the tech was able figure those problems quickly. It was good that I stayed throughout the entire time since there were one or two adjustments that I noticed that the tech didn't bring to my attention. They were able to fix them. If you have time, it is best to view a few online video on potential problems and bring them to the service tech's attention. The thing that I was surprised was the high cost for an hour of work with a $20 replacement part. I was not quite sure how the tech came to the cost of the repair although I needed the repair to be done. It might have been better for the tech to let us know how the pricing was calculated. All of this information is provide anyone who wants this kind of service done since you need to be proactive and be prepared to ask what and how things need to be fixed. As a consumer and customer, we need to be able to give constructive criticism to businesses and remember that our reviews can greatly affect a business. I tend to be more generous in ratings in my reviews. If you want good service and a higher price, I would suggest to get this company to fix or install a new/replacement garage door for you. Also, I could have been lucky to get the right and experienced person working on my garage. All in all, the work was done carefully and correctly by the experienced service technician.

Angi1If we could give this company less than one star, we would. We called Chicago Metro Garage Doors as they were listed as one of the best garage repair businesses in the annual “Best Pick Reports 2022”. We spoke with Joe and gave him a quick assessment of the problem, and he scheduled a service call for Saturday morning. On Saturday around 10 am, repair tech Gabriel arrived to assess needed repairs. He initially encouraged us to buy a new unit but said he could replace the broken part and get our opener working in about 45 minutes. After an hour, we checked on Gabriel and he said he underestimated the time it would take to do the repair and that he needed 30 more minutes. After 30 more minutes, Gabriel announced he needed to go to Home Depot for a tool. Upon his return from Home Depot, he began to really show signs of struggle with the repair and it became clear to us that he had overestimated his abilities to fix the problem. Three hours after fully disassembling our garage door opener and reinstalling it, Gabriel could not get the garage door to open. Once he realized that fact, he told us he was calling a master tech for advice. We could hear him talking and he was clearly frustrated. We heard the master tech ask him “walk me through why you would change out that part” and then asked him had he checked these other things. Clearly exacerbated, Gabriel hung up and proceeded to check on what he had just been told. He announced he needed more time to get the garage door working. Gabriel started taking down the chains and now they were just hanging all over the place. We tried maintaining our composure as we witnessed this fiasco, hoping for a miracle but the longer it took the ruder Gabriel became. Finally, when we couldn’t take the struggle anymore and asked for a completion time, Gabriel shouted we acted like “(we) didn’t trust him” and that (he) needs us to give (him) space to work” and that “(we) need to leave (him) alone.” We were taken aback that he would attempt to order us out of our own garage. Then, Gabriel said "don't you realize that I am sick can't you see the boogers on my face....I have been sick since I got here." At that point, we realized that we needed this person to leave. We told him to pack up go! Gabriel got on his phone and told someone that he was leaving, packing up while he talked (all captured on our security cameras). He then left a paper with what work he attempted to do with the cost of a new door opener if we wanted to now proceed with a full replacement while leaving our door opener worse than when he arrived. When we read the receipt, it said Illinois Garage Door Repair and not Chicago Metro who we called. So, we don’t know if we were scammed. This was the most horrible experience we have had with a technician of any kind. Not only did we feel threatened by an angry man in our own home, but he may have knowingly brought in Covid or worse threatened us with Covid just to get us to leave him alone in the garage. What professional behaves that way? Fortunately for us, when we contacted O'Brien's Garage Door Repair and explained our crisis, they immediately sent a crew to us the same afternoon. Thomas and his team confirmed that Gabriel really messed up our opener, but they thought it was repairable. Within 45 minutes, they had the garage door functioning again and charged us a fraction of the cost we had been originally quoted by Gabriel. We wished we had called them first but are glad we have their number now! Avoid Chicago Metro and Illinois Garage Door Repair at all costs. Services Rendered: Repair garage door opener

Angi4He told me $140 for one spring, and I searched online it is only $70, and I told them to give me $30 discount since he already installed it. Don't get burned. Services Rendered: replace a broken spring

Angi5Quick to respond, came the next day. Wonderful to work with! Services Rendered: Tension springs replaced and spring maintenance
Review from Alvan T.
Angi5Very prompt in getting here less than two hours after I called. Diagnosed the problem as an inferior, contractor grade opener for a very heavy door, which had resulted in the gears in the opener being stripped. Had to get a new opener from the warehouse overnight. Arrived early and did great work. Helped me program the remote buttons in my car. Tuned up our second garage door. Overall excellent service. Services Rendered: My garage door would only go up or down half way.

Angi2Late arriving by 2 hours Ridiculous charge Services Rendered: Replace springs
Review from Rosalie L.
Angi5Well. He was a gentleman and because it was such a minor job, charged me little. Services Rendered: As my overhead door wouldn't close, turns out one of the sensors was slightly bent, which he corrected. Mr. Levi explained it, plus told me the springs, and opener, are still working, but no longer current technology. So if they break, I'd need an overhaul.

Angi5It turned out fine. He was quick and efficient and I would use him again. I had to pay for the part I needed for the door. Services Rendered: I purchased a Big Deal coupon from them to replace a spring for the garage door.
