Review from Cari C.
Angi5I originally called Pickering Construction primarily with concerns about rotting trim around the exterior of the house. Especially one spot around the garage doors. We were also interested in possibly having the whole exterior painted. Steve was responsive, professional and thorough. He walked me through everything and spent time with me during the estimate. We chose him over the other two estimates for these reasons. His price was close to one other estimate and those were thousands less than the third. (Always get three estimates!) When the rotting trim was more extensive than we could see at first around those garage doors, Steve discussed in detail my options. He also took the initiative to ask to contact my insurance company to make sure he could work with them if the claim was accepted. We all worry about this with home repairs, more work than the estimate covers. In the end, the extra work only cost about $300 (in material, mostly for one support beam) more plus about a day and a half labor. Steve again took the time to explain and show me all concerns and options throughout the project. I felt in the loop the whole time and confident in the process. The rotted trim was repaired with composite Azack (sp?) and the remaining good trim was primed and pained to match the composite. Seamless! You can't tell the difference but we feel secure that the problem areas a repaired properly and will not be a problem again. They also fixed a gutter problem, screwing in all my loose gutters that were originally only nailed into the house. They became loose and rain ran down the house. The extra work only took about 2 extra days (or less) and that seemed very reasonable. The team of guys were professional, quiet and polite. The didn't leave garbage laying around and picked up at the end of each day. We are very happy with all the work. We will have Steve and his crew back in the spring to paint the entire exterior. I would recommend Pickering Construction to my friends and family. (I actually have already, to a neighbor). Services Rendered: Steve repaired and replaced rotted trim on the outside of the house. Primed and painted all trim.

Angi5They showed up on time and were consummate professionals. It was apparent that they care about the quality of their work and upon completion, made sure to leave the jobsite clean. They went beyond what was required when, after I mentioned an issue with a couple of door locks, he offered to investigate; took them apart; determined the problem, and fixed them at no charge. I was impressed and will be using them again. Services Rendered: A 2-sided sealed gate that extends from the side of the house had rotted due to water runoff from the roof seeping in. They repaired the rotten wood but noted the cause was due to lack of a cap on the top edge, so he added that as well. In addition, paint on the lower section of the garage doors had peeled off last winter due to snow buildup from plowing that had not been removed. The doors were scraped, sanded, primed and painted. Lastly, a column in the garage had been hit by a car and dislodged. After confirminging that there was no structural damage, they were able to knock it back into place and re-seal the gap between the column and the wall that had been caused by the impact.

Angi5He showed up a few minutes before schedule and repaired a broken boat garage door. He worked efficiently and quickly. I appreciated that he communicated to me each step in the process when appropriate. Then there was an additional need for the garage opener repair. Steven took apart the entire opener, went out to replace the broken parts and reset everything. He also gave me the name of someone for other work I asked about in a different specialty than his. In short I appreciate his thoroughness, professionalism and he got the job done at a very reasonable price. Services Rendered: Repaired a door for boat garage.nraired the opener as well.

Angi5Steve and his team showed up right on the day they promised and worked for the number of days they had planned. It took a little extra time to get the garage door springs adjusted right, but they stuck with it and brought in an expert to make sure they were right. We had some preferred paint colors for the rooms in the local hardware store and Steve got the paint there to make sure the color was a good match. I will use this company again when I need more work. Services Rendered: We've had Steve do work for us a couple of times before and were very satisfied. This time we had three rooms painted, our front porch repaired and painted, and our front door and garage doors replaced and the old ones carted away. We got PVC no-rot garage doors that are much lighter and easier to open and close than the heavy wood ones we had. Also, they never need to be painted, which we are very happy about.

Angi5It took a while to find a time that worked for us both, but Steve is personable, smart, helpful, and will be giving us some estimates for future projects. Services Rendered: Hung a large framed picture that had fallen down, fixed our garage door, installed a kayak hanger, was not able to reinstall broken closet doors, but took measurements for new ones, balanced refrigerator so door would close automatically, took measurements to help us hang 4 pictures in our stairway.
