I highly recommend A Better Door. I was having an issue with the top bracket on one of my garage doors. After explaining my problem, Jim stopped by my house 30 minutes later, diagnosed the problem, and presented me with several options. Two days later Jim showed up at the exact time he said he would and quickly fixed the problem. My entire experience with the company was quite pleasant.

I purchased a garage door opener from Home Ddepot in March 2025. In Levittown. Gary who worked there made the call to Better Doo, which he said does Home Depots' garage door installations, informing them of my purchase. An appointment was then set up for them to come to my house to install the opener A representative from Better Door came by and immediately said he couldn't do the installation. I asked why and wasn't given a reason. He then called his manager and confirmed for sure that they couldn't do it, still without reason. Did hear later thst they claimed they didn't have enough headroom. The garage door opener I have has for over 40 years was previously installed successfully and headroom was never a concern. Moreover 2 days after Better Door claimed they couldn't do it I CONTACTED TWO PEOPLE THAT CLEARLY WERE ABLE TO DO THE INSTALLATION. So based on my experience it is my opinion that Better Door refused to do an installation that 2 other people were capable of doing, which I believe is pretty shameful considering Better Door is supposed to be such a reputable company.

An appointment was set up and the rep arrived within the time frame. He was pleasant and great to deal with. I was amazed how fast he had my old opener down and the new one up. Very efficient. Explained how everything works and answered any questions I had. Would definitely recommend Better Door Company.

This garage company is the best. They answer your calls. They provide any information you need or want for the estimate. They put everything in writing. They removed our old system and put a completely new one in. Three guys did a wonderful job. Garage looks great. Very neat. Every thing explained. All works well and so very quiet! We had interviewed several companies and so glad we chose this one!

My lock jammed and made my auto opener not work, I called on a Wednesday evening to get an estimate and Lydia was so helpful and right to the point. She asked all the right questions to help get a repair guy out by Friday morning. He did exactly what she said he would, completely calibrated and lubed all working parts and changed the broken lock. Charged what she quoted over phone and John was professional and quick… awesome job!!

Worse company to deal with. I could of give them 0 if i could. I ordered 2 garage door opener with them last week and we agreed on price and when technician come and install them he install one of the opener alot higher than the other one and i asked him if you can make them same height and he said they are same height! When i asked him can you please measure it then he got mad and told me only few inches difference and he started working so angry, i was about to kick him off of my property. So then he wanted to charge more for remote and i told him remote comes with unit and he was like no, pay me x amount of dollar and when i refused to pay extra, they come back couple days later and take the remote back without my permission entered my property. I have it on video, i will definetly go after them entering my property without my permission and take things belongs to me. Top of that Kelly talks very rude and trashy. Costumer service is terrible. Go somewhere else if you wanna get treated professionally.

I originally went to home depot to shop for a garage door , when they didn't have any examples of the door I wanted much less any knowledge of the door I wanted I found out who they use to buy and install the door. So i visited them one morning and was given a real education on garage doors and the pricing as well. It was the best thing i ever did. The staff at A Better Door were so helpful in explaining everything in detail and the pricing so much better than home depot, I actually felt good leaving a deposit and got the exact door I really wanted. So after waiting for my install, which happened exactly on schedule and perfectly I may add, my door is working and looking better than I could have imagined. The installers were effective, efficient and very neat and professional. This had to be one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor in a very long time. The door is so smooth and quite and just recently my landscaper broke the lower glass panel and when I visited A Betfer Door to fix it , again it was easy and quick. I can not say more about how great they are. Thank you again for great service and a wonderful garage door for my home.

Bought a nice garage door from them and had it installed with a liftmaster system back in 2013. No problems. Now (10 years later), we had a car back into the door, damaging some tracks and brackets so it wouldn't open or close. That's a concern, we keep the usual garage stuff in the garage. Within 48hrs they sent Tom, who expertly replaced some parts from a supply in his truck, and pounded some bent things back into shape. Nice work, reasonable cost and fast.

Look no further if you are seeking a shoddy installation, employees with attitudes, lame excuses, and ineptitude. My first overhead garage door purchase from A Better Door Company was in January 2018. Their error prone quotations needed to be double and tripled checked. Their installer attempted to leave the job site without installing all the decorative hardware. Fast forward to May 2022. I opted to give A Better Door Company a second chance. This would prove a grave error in judgement on my part. My requirement encompassed three overhead garage doors and an entry door. A sizeable requirement yet A Better Door Company representative never came to the installation site to perform a basic survey during the quoting process. I experienced the same error prone quotation process which existed four years prior. A week after placing my order A Better Door Company sent a mechanic to inspect the installation site. Their mechanic arrives completely unprepared with no paperwork or information on the four doors I ordered. The mechanic cannot verify the basics such as the door sizes being correct. In November 2022 the installation nightmare commenced. Their installer unpacks the components and advises me the decorative hardware components are missing. This is the same super star installer - I say that in jest - who I had issues with four years prior. A few hours after the installer departed one of my newly installed overhead garage doors did not open. The mechanism connecting my existing garage door opener to the new garage door was not properly installed. When the installer returned to correct his screw-up, I pointed out another issue. The newly installed tracks for the two adjacent garage doors were not level with each other. The installer made no effort to level the garage door tracks. Their super-star installer returned with an attitude on the visit with the balance of the missing hardware. Incorrect and missing parts plagued the installation. I will take responsibility for a single instance of incorrectly reporting a parts shortage. A Better Door Company addressed the numerous missing and incorrect parts situation quickly. Yet their crises were self-induced. They were quick to blame Clopay. Yet my purchase was made directly with A Better Door Company, not Clopay. I ordered factory installed oversized rubber bottom door seals with two of my new garage doors. Their superstar installer failed to provide a smooth interface between the new doors and new weather stripping, both of which he installed. The garage door bottom rubber seals plowed into the weather stripping as the doors were raised and lowered. When the garage doors were in the lowered position the bottom seals did not sit properly. They curled up thereby deforming the new weather stripping. As a resolution A Better Door Company's installed stiffeners inside the rubber bottom seals. The bottom seals were now so rigid that within a few days I noticed the new garage door weather stripping was ripping. On this visit their mechanic was careless with his step ladder and dented the vinyl siding on my newly constructed detached garage. To prevent further damage to the weather stripping, I removed the stiffeners their mechanic installed. I concluded the resolution to the bottom seal issue was changing the oversize to a standard bottom seal. A Better Door Company quoted me $5.00 a linear foot for a standard bottom garage door seal. Home Depot sells the exact Clopay material for $1.00 per linear foot. With a Philips screwdriver I changed out the oversized bottom garage door seal to a standard seal in 20 minutes and resolved the issue. My newly constructed detached garage has a large Clopay overhead garage door also purchased from A Better Door Company. In November 2022 the contractor constructing my detached garage retained an independent garage door installer for this specific door. The first step of the independent installer was to attach mounting blocks to the garage framing above the garage door opening. The garage door tracks were then affixed to these mounting blocks. I located on-line Clopay Manual Number CBPC P/N 0137170 Rev01-4/06. This manual depicts a wood anchor pad above the door opening affixed to your garage framing. The anchor pad supports the center bearing plate of the Clopay torsion springs. A Better Door Company did not follow this practice on my two overhead garage doors they installed. The overhead garage door installed by the independent installer operates so much smoother than the two doors installed by A Better Door Company. When I brought this to the owner's attention, I received a flippant response. The owner, who claims 40 years of experience, was not familiar with this Clopay installation requirement. At the conclusion of my garage door installation all the incorrect components furnished by A Better Door Company filled a very large carton. Would I recommend this company. NFW.

I would absolutely recommend this company for new garage doors. They are professional, and delivered as promised. I had 2 doors installed with garage door openers. I ordered the Clopay Bridgeport series in a stained finish and the quality and finish exceeded my expectations. The installation was EXCELLENT !!!

Approximately 2 and 1/2 years ago I purchased a Chamberlain garage door opener from Home Depot and their installation company was A Better Door Company. This installation went smoothly and the technicians were professional, efficient, and effective in their installation of the garage door opener. This month I needed to purchase another garage door opener for my other garage door and so, again being satisfied with Home Depot, I purchased a Chamberlain garage door opener. I paid for the opener and for the installation as well. The installation company was again A Better Door Company. Although the technician was OK with regard to the installation, the total experience I had with the company was, in my opinion, an absolute disaster. First, the technician told my wife that we needed new springs, which was going to be an additional charge as only the installation of the garage door opener was pre paid. I had no problem with paying the additional cost for the needed broken springs. Then he said the springs were going to be an additional $75 dollars and that he had the springs with him. Next he tells my wife there is also an additional service/trip charge of $125.00 in addition to the cost of the springs. When I asked why the trip/service charge since he was already here and he had the springs, he said that was what the company charges to put in springs and if I did not want to pay for them now he would leave. When I said can't you charge me for the additional labor charge to install the springs, which he said would be less than a half hour to do, he said no and I have to pay the $125 or he has to leave as he had 10 more jobs to go to. So I paid the $75 for the springs and the $125 Service charge. I then called the Better Door Company office and both women I spoke to, trying to tell them the technician was already there and just charge me for the time for the labor installation, they refused to talk to me, or discuss the issue and told me if I did not pay them on the phone the additional $75 for springs and $125 service/trip charge the technician would leave as he had 10 more jobs to go to. They said there is no room for discussion, either pay the fee or the technician would leave. The said if I have a problem deal with Home Depot. So having no choice, I paid the additional money. In my opinion the people in the company were unprofessional, non caring, rude, refused to even discuss the problem, did not want to resolve this in an amicable fashion so that both the company and customer would come to a mutually acceptable resolution to the valid complaint. All these people were concerned about was to make money whatever way they can. Although the installation of the garage door door opener was OK, the unprofessional behavior, rigitty, refusal to discuss and resolve a valid customer complaint, rudeness of the women in the office, and only being concerned about making money even with inappropriate charges, I would not use this company again give the choice. I would recommend seeing if Home Depot (where I had an outstanding experience and they even tried on my behalf to resolve this issue) had any other third party installers. Certainly if I needed to deal with a garage door opener installation company in the future, it would not be with the unprofessional, rude, non caring A Better Door Company that is only out for the money and not for customer satifaction.

We purchased custom garage doors from Home Depot in Bellport 9/7/2019, knowing that the lead time would be about 4-6 weeks. When the 5th week came around and we didn't here from the subcontractor A Better Door Co my husband stopped in to see if he could get an idea of the installation schedule. He gave them the job # and the woman in the office started to look up the order, when she realized it was a HD order she nastily announce, "oh this is a Home Depot order". What difference does this make, they're getting paid to install the doors. She then said that the doors weren't in and we would be called, we waited a few more weeks and finally received a call that they wanted to schedule the installation, once again she nastily stated, make sure the garage is clear and that the installer has enough room to install the rails, we paid to have you confirm this. The day the installation came around, the installer shows up, he starts to check the boxes and realizes that he has the wrong doors, cheap low end doors. We paid for insulated doors with tempered obscure glass. He calls the office, they tell him that our doors were sent to another job and are installed already. They then tell him to go to that job and take the doors out and reinstall them in our garage. He refused to do it and we wouldn't accept that. Not once did anyone from the office call to apologize. When we questioned when the correct doors were going to be delivered they came back with 4-6 weeks. We contacted HD and they called the distributor, Clopay, Tom called us and told us that he had the doors in his WH but not the glass and he could deliver them to the ABDC the next day. Great! Guess what, we had to wait for another date because they couldn't be bothered correcting their error and making good. The doors were finally installed with the clear tempered glass with the understanding that the correct glass would be ordered and installed. Last week the installer shows up with single tempered glass, the wrong size and has a big smirk on his face when he tells my husband, well I guess you won't be getting the correct glass until after the new year! We contacted Tom at Clopay and have decided to keep the clear glass because we sure that the wrong glass will be ordered or will get broken in transit, the whole 2 miles from installer to our home and we'll be back to square one! This company is the most unprofessional company that I've ever dealt with. We try to shop local but I'm telling anyone who purchases doors from HD and they tell you that they use A Better Door Co as the installer. Tell them NO THANKS, hire some one from one of the online contractor sites. You'll receive better service than you will from A Better Door Co.

(Excerpts from my complaints with the BBB, Home Depot and Clopay Doors) In my instance, A Better Door was the subcontractor for Home Depot to install a Clopay Door, both companies whom I have since contacted about this installation. The complaint refers to the October 19, 2018 installation of my garage door. Simply put, the installer was rude. He had an attitude on arrival which I brushed off as being the first job of the day. He finished the installation, we went over the remote operation and emergency procedures, ran it up and down from inside and he left. I went inside to get my wife to come and look it the new door. Upon looking at the door from the street, when it closed it was crooked. About an inch high on the left side. I called A Better Door immediately and the installer came right back. This time the installer was even less happy about having to make a return trip. After a call to the office, the company's opinion was, "the frame is crooked, the door is straight, that's the way it will stay." My opinion was different and I insisted that the door assembly on the left side should be lowered an inch to not only match the frame but the driveway as well. After the installer begrudgingly lowered the assembly his parting words were "This is wrong and it will break in 2 or 3 days and I'm not coming back to fix it." I find it unfathomable that A Better Door A) didn't discover the crooked frame during the pre-installation inspection a month earlier, and, B) This company has never run into a crooked garage door frame ever before??? I've driven around my neighborhood in a five block area looking at everyone's garage doors to get an idea of what I wanted and there wasn't one single crooked installation. This company is very unprofessional and made me feel like the job couldn't have been done any faster with no regard for the person who is paying them to install it.

They came and measured checked for lead paint never asked me to open door and check inside. They told me the door had lead ,either I could remove it or there would be a 300 dollar fee for removal, also it could not be on the curb, the woman I spoke with was rude, also my door opener was old they told me AFTER they came to install that they could not hook it up . Would have been nice to know before they showed up. Being that's the way I open the door.

What a ridiculous company!!! Their technician's pure incompetence is mind-blowing! The nasty lady called Lydia answered the call is so entitled and arrogant, trying to scam me into paying extra field visit because their technician is so out dated and does not know how to install garage door for luxury homes. Homedepot told me all doors come 7 feet in the system, once the measurement is done, they will adjust the height accordingly. Not once did they mention there will be a significant price difference on that. What a scam... Have a good day to you too lady, you keep this Karen attitude, home depot will take their business somewhere else. Very poor business practice. Made an appointment for an estimate yesterday 08/25/14. I was given a 3 hour window from 9 AM to 12 noon for 08/26/14. No one showed up for the appointed window and never called to say that they were going to be late. I called after 12 noon and was told that the technician must be running late. The woman is the office was nice but I told her I wouldn't be using their services. The technician finally showed up at 12:35 but was unpleasant and had a bad attitude about the estimate appointment. I called the office and spoke to the owner's wife who was pleasant and apologized for the bad experience. As nice as she was, we can't recommend this business. We have used this contractor for a couple of years, when our garage doors do not go up or down. When called, they always call back promptly and set up an appointment. They always arrive when they say they will. In the past, they have had to replace motors, etc., but this last visit required only that the wires be plugged in snugly, as they were loose. The serviceman, Tom, said there would be no charge. This is very unusual, as many contractors charge just to come to the house. Tom is always very professional and polite and gets the job done. We definitely recommend this company !! Services Rendered: serviced garage door
