Yelp5I called Gates Express to repair broken hinges on my heavy driveway gate. I needed someone who could do welding. Gates Express responded immediately and came to deliver service on Easter Sunday in the middle of a storm. They brought everything required to complete the job on the spot. Remarkable!! While here they noticed that my garage door was broken. They repaired that on the spot as well! I thought I was going to have to replace the whole thing but it is now good as new!! Thank you Gates Express for excellent service and workmanship!

Yelp1I was told that my gate needed a new motor and that it would cost $950 even though I suspected that my gate could be repaired for $450 because it cost me $450 for the same issue plus a new chain. However, David insisted that it needed a new motor and that it cost more for a replacement of the motor. Still, I thought it would be better to put a new motor for $950 and then maybe it wouldn't need to be repaired again in the future so I said okay. David took out a new motor and laid it down by my Ramsey box, but then he repaired my old motor and still charged me the cost of a new one. He claimed that he said was that he'd get it running either way for $950 with or without a new motor. I said that's not what I agreed to; then, he said that the motor that he laid out wasn't compatible with what was in my box and that to make it work he'd have to change a lot more for additional items so it would cost more than the $950 to make work with a new motor. This approach is very misleading to a customer and I believe he did it on purpose as to extract $950 while using my same parts. I had agreed to the new motor and he made me think that it would cost $950 since he said that that was the problem. If it wasn't compatible why had he even pulled out a new motor and told me that he had all the parts to get my gate running again. My gate was stuck on open, which was why I hired him. He also said that he'd charge me in two payments. After forgetting to charge me the second payment of $150 on the month that we agreed upon (Feb 6th), he calls me up today and says that I owed him the balance ($150) amount 2 days ago and that I failed to pay him. How's that? He had all my information to charge me on the agreed upon date. It's not like I can charge myself. In the email (see attachment) of the receipt he sent me on the 29th of Jan. It contains ALL of my credit card information and the date he was supposed to charge me the 2nd payment of $150. It is so detailed I had to black it out to include the receipt. If I got hacked my credit card info would be vulnerable as he put all of it on the receipt so that he would charge me the 2nd payment. This is NOT professional nor is it secure. David even went so far as to leaving himself two reviews with my own phone! I truly wanted to do my own reviews and on my own time so I could be honest about my experience with Gate Express, but David pressured me to do it right at that moment. I was going to just write a short review, but he said he'd show me how quick it was to access the places for the reviews. He made me log on in. I was too embarrassed to refuse him, and shocked as I watched him saying that he'd do them for me to *save me the time*. I let it go and figured his Karma would one day catch up to him. I feel it is important for a client to relay how they feel about someone's work and experience. I believe that David was dissembling his true intent and using double speak to confuse me about his true intentions. I truly believe he overcharged me and took advantage of me because I am a woman. I will never use him again. Furthermore, I could referred him many future clients because I soon will be working in real estate and it is important to be able to refer your clients to honest repair people, but after what I experienced that will never happen with Gate Express.

Yelp5I cannot say enough great things about this company! I am thoroughly satisfied and happy with the service. I had to have the gate pad replaced suddenly in the middle of the night because it died on me unexpectedly and all our cars were locked in the driveway. I called during the holiday evening hour and did not expect them to be available, but I was surprised they came within a couple of hours! The technician came with everything prepared and figured out exactly what was wrong and explained to me so patiently (I am not very knowledgeable about the gate and his explanation helped me understand). He understood our concerns and was willing to be flexible and accommodating. I was super impressed when he said he would make himself available the very next morning to replace everything and everything was taken care of within 12 hours of our first contact and our gate is brand new again! We feel very safe and secure. We appreciate the service and I highly recommend it!

Yelp1Attempted Exploitation of Elderly Customers My 80-year-old grandparents had an issue with their gate that was initially described as a minor "adjustment" by the technician who came out, took a photo and left, promising to call back. (The gate opened too far and fell off the tracks.) However, the situation took a sharp turn when they contacted my grandmother again, claiming that an entire new motor was needed for a staggering $5,400. What's truly concerning here is that the company made this determination without even physically inspecting the equipment. This assessment was made without a proper evaluation, and it felt more like an attempt to prey on my grandparents' presumed lack of knowledge. What becomes evident in this situation is a complete lack of integrity and a concerning willingness to exploit the elderly. The company's approach was not only dishonest but also potentially a financial burden for my grandparents. Thankfully, my grandparents maintenance man visited, assessed the situation, and fixed the gate within 20 minutes, saving them an exorbitant $5,400. Clearly, a new motor was not necessary, and the company's "assessment" was inaccurate. I must also mention that the customer service provided throughout this ordeal was appalling. Communication was inconsistent, and it's apparent that the company prioritized profit over customer welfare. The company's actions appeared to be motivated purely by profit, with my grandparents being perceived as easy prey. Aka elder abuse.

Yelp5Wow! Our gate stopped working after the rains. Called gates express and he said "I'll be there in an hour" Exactly one hour later the doorbell rang. Quickly and efficiently he took apart the gate mechanism figured out exactly what was wrong and fixed it! These days when you can't rely on anyone the service, price and responsiveness were amazing. Recommend 100%

Yelp5We contacted Gate Express to repair our electric gate. The engineer (Roy arrived the next day when expected and confirmed the issues. Following his inspection, he gave a very clear explanation of what was causing the problems and explained the options. I chose my preferred option and after checking with his office he stayed on to complete the work for a very reasonable additional fee. The engineer's attention to detail was impressive even labeling the relevant circuit breaker with a 'Gate' sticker and greasing the gate hinges before tidying up and removing all unwanted items.
