First I want to say that the 2 man crew that removed the gutters and replaced and repaired the rotten fascia did a truly remarkable job. As did the crew that came and installed the new gutters. We are super happy with the job outcome. Our sour experience rests solely with the contractor, **** *******. To start he provided his estimates for 3 separate jobs via text versus contract. As most homeowners are aware, contract prices include labor and materials. Since text wasn't crystal clear, we sent a text clarifying the numbers we were seeing. We were told we were absolutely correct. We decided to proceed with the first job. **** told us no deposit was required and payment was not due until job was complete. As with some jobs, more damage can be discovered and was and we added to the original price given to account for that. Our feelings started to sink after the wood repair portion of the job was complete and **** texted asking if he could come by for the check. I told him we were still waiting on gutters and he said no payment until complete. He then claimed to have prices separate for wood and gutters which he did not as I resent him his original text. The gutter crew came the next day and did an awesome job installing the new gutters. I expected to hear from **** the next day and when more than a few days past,texted him asking whom to make check to and confirming we had correct amount. He did not answer the questions but said he would be by the next day. He arrived and I told him how happy we were with the job. He then starts saying there must be misunderstanding on price and proceeds to say that we owe more than double what was originally communicated. Immediately shocked by this I referred to our communications which clearly had me clarify what was texted. He gets defensive and begins to insult us by saying he knows what kind of people we are.....and why don't we just pay whatever we want. We are a family big on numbers and operating on a budget and no family big on numbers and operating on a budget and no family should be surprised by an amount more than double what was discussed. **** has no idea what kind of people we are and was paid in full. We thank **** for showing what kind of person he is so that we can now find a contractor for the remainder of our jobs and hopefully shed light so that no other family has to go through this experience.
