Review from Karen I.
Angi5I called for an estimate and their office sent Don Wasson out the next morning. He inspected the damaged door and its hardware and provided me with a written estimate with two options for a non-insulated versus semi-insulated door ($595 versus $626) plus $33 for re-connecting the operator and $67 for removing and hauling away the old door and its hardware. His factory stocked my requested color (almond) and could install the next day. I had another contractor coming to provide a competing bid that afternoon and I told him that I would advise when my review was done. The competing bidder later the same day provided a better price with a special deal on a fully insulated door but had a three week lead time for the almond color versus having white in stock. I called Alpine and requested an additional price for a fully insulated door and they called back within 10 minutes with a door price of $742.00 versus $750.00 for the competitor plus Alpine was willing to install the next day. I was unwilling to wait three weeks as a security breach like a severely damaged garage door visible from the street was unacceptable. I opted for installation the day after on my day off and they scheduled the appointment. Don called shortly before his scheduled Friday arrival time to advise that he was just leaving the factory and would be arriving late which was fine with me. He arrived and removed my old door and all of its antiquated hardware. Installation took quite awhile as my house is 50 years old and has some very dated construction issues that come up with each home repair project. My home inspector had remarked during the pre-sale inspection that it appeared that the existing garage door had been installed by Cousin It from the Addams Family. Don took his time with the installation and the result was far better than I had expected. The old door had a poor fit with no decent trim to guard against the weather. The new door and its trim fit flush, work smoothly, and look great. Don said that my next door neighbors remarked that the new door was much more quiet. I explained that they would notice because their baby and toddler bedrooms were on the side of their house next to my garage and since I work nights and come home quite late, it would be greatly appreciated by them that my door was replaced. Don cleaned up after himself and hauled all of the old parts away. I would use him again and recommend him to anyone. Services Rendered: My garage door fell apart upon opening and needed immediate replacement.
