Appointment with Gates Repair Sammamish was booked to diagnose garage door for the agreed fee of $45. A technician from LGD Contractors LLLP arrived approx. 30 minutes after the two hour appointment window. He removed external drive motor casing and showed us worn gears. He did the same for second garage door and showed us partially worn gears. He gave us quotes and said we needed to replace the whole system for the first door, including emergency sensors and remote control. Because the company had no reports on Angies list we decided to get a second inspection to see if a complete system was needed or if we could just replace the gears and declined to have him install a new system. The technician then charged us $69 instead of the $45 quoted. I called the main phone number to dispute the higher amount and the company said $45 was to "come and see" and taking the drive housing off counted as labor. I disagreed saying how could they "see" what was the cause of the problem if they did not do that! The person on the phone then hung up on me.
