Google5Store is a gem...I have been in San Francisco since 1968, shopping 🛒 this location since 2000, conveniently located to my residence. Alot of incidents occur, that's not Safeways fault, society has growing pains....I would suggest a tighter control over camping in front of the store, more security around the building. Move along the folks using the parking lot for other activities, inconsistent with the needs of the shopper. I have turned around and left at times because of unsafe conditions. I am elderly and shouldn't have to feel concerned leaving the property

Google5I love this Safeway, compared to the Safeway. On Jackson street, it has everything lines. Go pretty quick. I enjoy that. I just think that their customer service should be a lot better. Google1I had an unpleasant experience at La Playa Street, San Francisco location on October 28, 2025, at approximately 11:00 PM. I have been a loyal Safeway customer at this store for over 30 years, and I have always appreciated the service I receive there. However, on this visit, I was treated very disrespectfully by a cashier whose name sounded like Britta. I was purchasing a carton of milk, a six-pack of non-alcoholic beer, and I picked up two candy bars—an Almond Joy and a Hershey’s chocolate bar—because I wanted to check the price before deciding which one to buy. I asked the cashier how much each candy bar cost. Instead of providing the individual prices, Britta kept repeating the total price of both candy bars together, over and over again. After several requests, she finally told me the price of one of them but continued to refuse to tell me the price of the other. It felt as though she was deliberately playing a game rather than simply answering a straightforward question. When I asked to speak with a manager, she refused and stated that she was the manager on duty. She then told me she would not sell me my milk or beer and asked me to leave the store. I was upset by the situation, which was completely unnecessary. Stephen, the next cashier, was very nice and courteously completed my purchase without any issues. I was shocked and disappointed by the way I was treated. There was absolutely no reason for this hostility. A simple price check could have resolved everything. I value this store and would like to continue shopping here, but I hope this incident will be reviewed and addressed so that no other customer has a similar experience.

Google5This Safeway location is clean, organized, and offers a wide selection of fresh produce, meats, bakery items, and essential groceries. I appreciate that the aisles are easy to navigate and everything is arranged logically. The staff is polite and helpful when you need assistance. Checkout lines usually move quickly, and parking is convenient. It’s a reliable store for everyday shopping and finding high-quality products.

Google3Went here to grab some lunch from the hot foods counter. Food was a bit dry and just not that good for the price. Service was decent so I give credit there. Tons of parking. Watch out for the crazy seagulls in the parking lot!

Google5Safeway at La Playa Street was super convenient especially for picking up essentials before a beach evening. I got everything I needed for a bonfire including firewood and coals all in one stop. The store is big and well stocked with groceries snacks and even fresh baked goods and deli items. Great location if you're heading to Ocean Beach or Golden Gate Park and need to grab supplies on the way.

Google5A pretty good supermarket, it has good food options and a nice wine selection. Some wines are even chilled. I can recommend this place to grab some beverages snacks before going to the beach

Angi5I rent this home and I have a service contract which requires that I go through certain vendors. They were very efficient and he sized up the problem within minutes and had it fixed within an hour which was very effective. Services Rendered: I used Safeway for garage doors. They came on March 9th.
