Google5Had a great experience. We got four other quotes from other companies. 1st rate was the only company that was lower and called us back to follow up. Their customer service was great. The installation was very easy and the tech was very friendly.

Google1Rip off and terrible customer service. I had the garage door springs replaced by them and thought the price was high but was in a bind to get the door open and then discovered that they charged me twice the going rate when I checked with 4 other garage door companies. When I requested a price verification there customer service was terrible and would not return my call until I called them 5 times. Avoid at all costs.

Google2Two stars for coming out next day but charged us $980 for one hour or reconnecting the wire to pull the door and straightening the track. We had to get it done because our mom had just passed away and we needed the house secure. Didn’t even use new parts for anything. Feel we were taken advantage of price wise.

Google5I don’t know much about garage doors but I do know the men came over to repair mine at about 6:30 in the evening after working all day. I accidentally backed into it and couldn’t get out of my garage or close my door. They repaired it and I was able to close it. They also have a warranty on their work.

Google5Antoine was simply the best. He arrived around 2:30 pm on a Sunday. Who knew!!!! Explained the Genie and its features. Said to give him 45 minutes and he would have the install completed. Think he beat that time. He also programmed my Jeep to open and close the garage door.

Google5Amazing, company. I love their same day service. The technician Mike was knowledge and friendly. He came made his assessment and completed job in 30 minutes. If you need immediate work and friendly service this is definitely the company to use. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Yelp1DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Unprofessional and a ripoff. Their phone number is 8174354640. They have a nice website that shows 200 5 star reviews on Yelp. Dont believe it. They do not answer their phone as 1st Rate. I had to ask for the name of their company. . Our garage door stopped working and yes they sent someone out right away, which was good. However he told us that the gear was broken and the whole box had to be replaced with outrageous estimate of $1300. Gave him $40 for service call. Said he would send a receipt and estimate by email. We called Overhead Door for second opinion. They said the gear could be replaced for around $250 but were having a hard time finding the part since the unit was 20 years old. We decided to go with a new unit after all. Overhead Door did a great job for $540. When we called 1st Rate Garage Door about the receipt they told us that they were scheduled to come back out this next Friday. I said no they were not scheduled to come out and I wanted the receipt for the service call. I was xferred to a vm. Pretty sure they will not call us back. Do not use 1st Rate Garage Door!

Yelp1DO NOT use this company. Last Dec 2021 they installed an undersized spring. In order to compensate for their poor work, they adjusted the opener. By 6 mos out, the door was making a horrible noise, they sent a tech who recommended other work that had nothing to do with fixing the problem. I declined that recommendation. 9 months to the day, the cables were falling off and it was close to cracking the panels. I had to have the original work corrected by another company. When I called customer service, it was anything but helpful. Obviously this company understands neither garage doors nor customer service. If there were negative stars I would give them that. REPEATING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Yelp1BUYER BEWARE! Company is rude and disrespectful. There is 1 person in "Client Services" named Brenda who will straight-up hang up on you. They replaced our garage door and said the parts had a 1-year warranty. These same parts started going out after 3 months. When I called, not only was Brenda unhelpful, she hung up on me, yelled at an angry customer, and said she'd have to "get with her parts department" to see if they cover these parts that were supposed to be covered for another 9 months!! Shady, shady, shady company and people!! I'd love to continue to support local businesses, but not when the customers are treated like this. This lady has clearly never had a real job.

Yelp1We value our customers but not on weekends or for emergencies. Having paid them $1,400 about 6 months ago for new springs, cables and straightening a bent track, today when I needed them I was hung up on. In addition they wouldn't even let me speak to a technician, which tells me that they weren't even working today despite being told they were booked for the day. Today the door jumped the tracks and cable came off the end wheel. Since their parts failed I asked for a refund on the parts since they couldn't help service me before leaving town tomorrow and having to leave with a garage door unable to open or close (stuck in the half way open position). For the lady that hung up on me and then refused to answer the phone when I called back, you can tell the owner this review is because of YOU. If you worked for me you'd be fired. As the first line representative you did a great job of supporting why 1st Rate is LAST in my book.

Yelp1If I could rate this any lower I would. The cranky-sore-ass Rex that answered the phone didn't even let my wife finish speaking before she hung up on her. Garbage human beings like these people do NOT deserve anyone's business. Much better off going somewhere else.

Yelp1Following the outrageous repair charges I contacted multiple competitors in the area to investigate prices. I discovered that 1st Rate's prices are basically double the competition. My $1,135 bill ( 2 springs & 10 rollers) was quoted at an average of $550 by others. I called 1st Rate and talked to Stacy (sp) and she defended their pricing as she read the invoice. She mentioned "Lifetime" warranty parts but my invoice received day of service says "No Warranty" on parts. She forwarded a copy and guess what, it says Lifetime Warranty? Interesting how this omission could decrease profit at a later date if known. Very deceptive business practice. I will say the techs sent were very nice. Reading another recent review looks like they overcharge others as well. $1,000+ seems to be their ridiculous fee for standard garage door repairs.

Yelp1Outrageous pricing. Was in a bind and they were responsive, professional, communicated about when they were coming and seemed knowledgeable of what needed repair. I was not onsite as it was a rental property. The cost for repairing springs, a gear and new rollers was as much as I would have paid to have a new garage door opener installed. I'll roll with it in a pinch but wonder how much return business they receive. Total repair was $1108 and they will charge you a percentage if you use a credit card.
