Yelp5When you see a review with 5 stars, it is helpful to read the history of the review to see if there really was something extraordinary about the product or service. The depth of feeling by the prior reviewers as well as the neighbourhood referral made me believe we would be in good hands. My wife initially contacted John (Still 'Big John' but he longer deserves that moniker) but he was on a job and said he would be over within 1-2 hours to fix our non-functioning door. On arrival he immediately diagnosed the problem, explained how the broken cable was of a type he did not have with him, but contacted a vendor in Camarillo who did have it. He went to Camarillo from Oxnard and returned with the necessary materials. He installed the new materials, tested it, lubed the system and it was better than new. Cost $124.16. I thought it was a bargain given the two trips to the house and the trip to Camarillo. What a change going to a competent one man (I suspect) operation with skill and professionalism compared to a large faceless company that would charge an arm and a leg just to come out. I have no hesitation in recommending him for any of your garage door needs.

He is always on time, only replaces/repairs what is necessary and never tries to sell you something. He will explain all repairs. Big John is a true professional. I highly recommend his services.

Yelp5Someone vandalized my garage door while I was in the process of selling my house. It was discovered the day before the house inspection was scheduled. My first instinct was to just purchase a new door but instead, I heard about Big John's garage door service so I called them. John came out to the house before the inspector arrived and was able to repair the door and thankfully, it was a fairly simple repair! So instead of paying 1000 bucks for a new door, I paid less than $200 to repair it! I would highly recommend Big John's garage repair service. Yelp5As mentioned in a previous review, Big John came out and serviced our garage door. When he left that day, the problems seemed resolved but after a couple of days, an issue came back. I called John this morning and he was back at my house within the hour! He apologized many times for the problem but as I explained to him, there were SO many issues with that door because it had been installed incorrectly years ago by someone else, I was amazed he was able to fix it at all. Well, fix it again he did (a different cause than last time) AND he refused any payment for today's call, not even a basic service call fee. I whole heartedly recommend Big John and would not hestitate to have him back. We don't write many reviews, but when we do, its because we feel it well deserved. Thanks again!!

Yelp5Yesterday Big John's Garage Door Service set up my mother with a new Garage Door Opener. They were about $200 less than the other company that also came highly recommended. We went with Big John's because the very first thing they did was try darn near everything they could to fix the opener. When we realized that wasn't going to cut it, they: 1) gave us a quote (which, as mentioned, was extremely reasonable) 2) let us know a new one could be picked up today and 3) then got the equipment changed out all in the same day. Big thanks to Big John's, we'd recommend them.
