I wanted a exterior outlet installed so I could "plug in" my motor home (RV) at home. I made a appointment with Kolb Electric, a technician (assessor) came out, and I provided a quote a couple days afterwards. The quote was for $950 which was fair. However, the quote was incorrect. The RV outlet requires a 30amp 120 volts not 240 volts that was referenced in my quote. I asked for the quote to be amended. That when Kolb Electric went dark. I never received a reply or amended quote. I followed up with a few emails and still no reply. When did this become a regular business practice? I used Kolb before and found their technicians to be professional and their prices reasonable. Just a FYI that another electrician & rv dealer confirmed that the 30amp 120 volts is correct. RV are very different. Just thought I would share this.

A simple heavy up of my panel has dragged on for nearly a year. They tired to bury a 50 amp cable 6 inches deep in my yard and tried to tell me it was up to code. Permits are not closed out and the company does not return my calls. I picked them because I thought they were reputable but have had nothing but bad experiences with them.

We just used Kolb Electric for the third time and I was reminded of how fabulous their service is, from our initial call, to an estimate and then the excellent completed work. In our previous home, they upgraded an electric panel, put in a surge protector, and saved our house from disaster just in time. They were efficient, kind, and solved the problem with one visit. Three summers ago, they put in an extra circuit in our current home to run for a hot tub/swim spa. They came back once the spa was installed to connect it. They were again helpful, accommodating, and very patient when the spa arrived late. Flash forward to this week- we just had two whole house surge protectors put in. Another company installed a brand-new AC system a few weeks ago, and then a bad storm fried the control panel. The AC company fixed it and suggested we get whole house surge protector. Yet again, Kolb Electric to the rescue. They arrived right on time, completed the work, and cleaned up after themselves. My husband was here with them, when I arrived home, they even offered to help me carry my groceries! Every experience we’ve had with them has been lovely and we will continue to use them for all our electrical needs. Kolb Electric has consistently done amazing work for us and they are our go to electric company!

The electrician was great- but their billing office is horrible. I’ve been waiting for an invoice for over two weeks. Frequent calls and emails to customer service always get the “I’m sorry I’ll contact our billing office and they’ll send it right away”. But nothing ever is sent. I don’t recommend any company who can not give you an invoice immediately - much less two weeks later- do not use these guys.

Apparently Kolb has a practice that allows the Technician to cancel or no show to a scheduled appointment if you: 1. Don’t answer their call or 2. Don’t return their call in whatever they deem a suitable timeframe. Also the call comes from the technician’s personal cell so it can be any random number and my phones blocks calls it sees as a scam or junk. But let’s just say the call comes thru or my voicemail isn’t full. Why do I need to be at the behest of the technician for a “SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT”. Just show up! That’s why I am sitting here for a 4 hour window so you can pop up anytime you want between those hours. I am confused isn’t that the purpose of the scheduled appointment. That was already confirmed. Oh and then for the tech to send me a nasty text stating I need to reschedule because me calling him was stressing him out…Talk about Top tier service…He called between 11:21 and 11:30 when he could have just been on his way. At the time of me calling him I was unaware of this practice. I found out only after I called Kolb back. Just a heads up to ask before booking.

Brandon from Kolb just finished a panel replacement and installation of an EV charging station. We were super pleased with the work Brandon did. He was personable, considerate, and above all does excellent work. The panel looked great, and I am amazed at the very minimal amount of dry wall damage for such a significant project.

We had an electrical issue that I could not fix. Kolb Electric responded promptly to us on a Sunday morning, assigned us a technician, and that technician resolved the issue within two hours. The technician, Sean, was very thorough, polite, and knowledgeable. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would recommend Kolb Electric, and Sean for any emergency electrical issues.

Read before proceeding: I worked with Nick and Lauren Kolb at Kolb Electric for a property I was listing for sale in DC. My partner and I brought two projects forward to Kolb. We did our due diligence and quoted some other companies to understand what our cost for the projects would be. Be AWare!! Do not go with the hourly model! Nick from Kolb heard our quoted prices out and informed us the hourly rate would be better. He said they would come In under that price. I should have known better to negotiate a fixed rate, but Nick was very convincing. Nonetheless, we are currently in a legal back and forward. Left with a fat bill and the project wasn’t completed. I ended up paying someone else to actually perform the work and get us passed inspection.

They came out long ago and did a day's worth of work. It all seemed pretty good, but it wasn't executed very well. The biggest stumbling block was that I had someone come out to look at all the work and give me an estimate. Because they had to drill through a brick wall whoever showed up at my house needed to have a drill. The guy who came to do the estimate told me to ask for him when I called to schedule the job and tell them that we were going to drill through a brick wall and he would make sure that they would have the drill and he would remember it. I did all that and they sent out someone different who did not have a drill on his truck. He actually spent 2 hours driving to get a drill. The expectation was that I was going to pay for those 2 hours which I was not interested in doing. We had to negotiate on that, but I did not end up paying for those 2 hours. The work was done just fine but was not executed the way it was supposed to. I don't know how to grade the price. The quality of work was fine. The guy showed up on time, but without the appropriate material. Services Rendered: I had Kolb Electric run a new circuit for a garage door opener which entailed drilling through a brick wall to physically run the wire. They also replaced a couple of light fixtures and did other work.
